Dating
form the 18th Century and standing in beautiful surroundings, on the
edge of Macclesfield Forest Reservoir, this stone built inn, formerly
a smithy, gets its name from William Leather who you will see on copies
of our menu. In 1812 he obtained the first license to sell ale and
porter. A popular haunt with walkers, fishermen and country lovers, it is only a mile from Peak Park and three miles from the busy market town of Macclesfield. A warm inviting interior with real fires welcomes the visitor, a stone flagged bar area, a carpeted lounge area, and a non-smoking family room cater for all tastes. The menu is extensive and varied, form a single sandwich to a Lobster Thermadore, followed by delicious sweets and coffee. At the Leather’s Smithy we are proud that whenever possible we use local traceable produce and cook each individual dish to order to create excellent quality home cooked meals.
